To use the camera within the Biome app, your smartphone’s location services (GPS) must be turned ON.
When uploading photos from your device, the date, time, and location metadata embedded in the photo will be automatically applied to your post. (If a photo does not have location data, you can set it manually on the posting screen.)
You can choose whether to display or hide the specific location of your post by toggling the "Show Location" switch on the posting screen.
The Biome app was created not only to let you experience the fascination of nature from various perspectives but also to conduct surveys on the distribution of wild plants and animals with your help.
Knowing "when, where, and which species" exist is a vital first step toward biodiversity conservation. Therefore, location information is a required setting for all posts to ensure the scientific value of the data.
Privacy Option: By turning off the "Show Municipality" toggle on the post editing screen, you can hide the specific municipality (city/town) where the photo was taken.
Automatic Protection: For rare or endangered species, location information is automatically hidden from the public to ensure their protection.
