[NEW] I keep getting an error message, and I can't take photos or upload posts

If You can't submit a post, check Your App Permissions

Check Your App Permissions

If you're taking a photo with the in-app camera in Biome or uploading a photo already saved on your device, make sure the Biome app has permission to access your camera and photo gallery.

How to Enable Permissions (Android)

  • Open Settings (the gear icon) on your Android device.
  • Tap Apps.
  • Find and select Biome from the app list.
  • Tap Permissions, then allow the following permission

     - Camera
    – Required to take photos and submit observations using the in-app camera
     - Location – Required when using the in-app camera. You can read our Location and Privacy Policy for more information
     - Photos & Videos – Required to upload photos that are already saved on your device.

  • If You See the "Inappropriate Post" Error Message

Please review the Before You Post guidelines to make sure your photo is eligible for submission to the Biome app.

To prevent uploads of non-living objects, Biome uses an automated image filter. In rare cases, the filter may incorrectly reject a valid photo.

If this happens, try adjusting the crop before uploading again—for example:

    Crop closer to the organism.
Include more of the surrounding environment.
    Reframe the image slightly.

Then try submitting the photo again.
